Lester is More

The Sox had a bit of a mishap over the weekend loosing two to the Jays including a lack luster Becket performance. In steps Lester (7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 5 K, 1 BB) and man did he straighten that sh*t out. He is carrying this year's staff. In fact in his last four starts he is 3-0 with a 0.29 ERA. This may sound crazy, but John Lester is having a Pedro like year here. Not that his pitching is anywhere near Petey's '98-'99 dominance, but he is winning when the Sox need it. It seems like he has halted every potential big skid the Sox have run into this year. I can't imagine how this guy feels knowing he could have lost it all with his cancer diagnosis. I do know that he has some enormous BALLS and will be carrying this team come October if all things end well. Trailing the Rays by 4.5 games and leading the Twins in the Wild Card by 1.5 you need big wins like Lester's last night.

I also have to admit it is hard not to like Jason Bay the guys a gamer check-out the numbers:

Since moving to Boston, Bay is batting .348 with 3 HR and and 16 RBI in 16 games. His OPS is an outstanding .972, and he has stolen 3 bases as well. - faniq.com
