Just Like Old Times

Granted last night was over hyped as a Pats blow out we as Pats fans certainly got our money's worth with that game. I don't know how many drives the Pats stalled on inside their own 20, but when the chips were on the table they didn't fold.

The defense especially surprised me after a dismal first half where they couldn't stop the run, lost Mayo, and made Fred Jackson look like Marsahll Faulk circa 1999. Now the loss of Mayo could have broken some teams, but not this young squad. They maned up and didn't take the loss of their defensive captain as and excuse to let the Bills walk all over them in the second half. The play of Guyton, Adalius Thomas, and Merriweather especially, got my attention. We saw a fast Pats d that maybe wasn't as experienced as it was last year or prepared, but they made up for their lack of experience by hitting the ever-loving crap out of the Bills in the fourth quarter. Shout out to Bodden for his monster hit. This team will give up points, but they showed they are capable of the bend don't break motto that had been lost over the past few years.

Now onto the offense. God Damn, was it good to see #12 out there slinging bebes. Tommy got off to a shaky start where the receivers essentially could catch swine flu if they tried. After the Bills piled on a Aaron Schobel td the Pats could have easily given in and called it a night. They certainly were not winning with the offense they showed in the first half. Come the second half though Tommy got comfortable as did Welker. Moss had a huge game and broke some ankles on his huge catch in the fourth. Ben Watson the quintessential goat of many games past finally made a big catch. But, we have always known he makes the impossible ones it's just the easy ones he seems to have a hard time hauling in. I have to say that is one of the best catches I've seen a TE make since Benny retired and that's saying something.

Overall the Pats didn't play perfect football, but they played Patriots football when it mattered. They kept themselves in it long enough to win and got a few breaks along the way, thanks Leodis! Either way 1-0 beats 0-1 and I'll take the win. As for you Susie Colber recognize a stud when you see one and don't try so hard. Jesus you'd think she was chasing Ben Roethlisburger for Christ sakes. Get with the times honey, Brady isn't even taking a second to talk to Erin Andrews if she's in a whipped cream bikini let alone your cougar ass.

You Should Dancing YEAH!

On the verge of the Pats opener I can't contain myself. I feel like dancing like Tommy at the 00:30 mark or Uncle Bobby in the following clip. The 4th Superbowl of the 2000's is coming. Can you feel it??? Ohhhhhhhhhhh YEAH! Now if you'll excuse me I need a tissue or 12.

Don't Do This To Me Again!

After last nights preseason masterpiece. Again, Pats fans are to wonder if Tom Brady is healthy. Albert Haynesworth decides late in the second half to take it to postseason level and take Brady down like a McRib at the drive-though at McDonald's. All of New England collectedly flashed back to the first drive of 2008-09 and headed for the hard stuff while gasping for air. Now it looked like he was alright on the bench. I would say, having had my collar bone broken, he didn't break anything, but that is one god damn important shoulder right there. The team took precaution in holding him out, but that was the biggest "OHH Shit!" moment. Of course it was the biggest since Tommy went down last year and we all know how painful that was after the Superbowl that never happened. So I'm on my knees begging you please don't be hurt Tommy, please don't be F'ing hurt.

Otherwise the night wasn't a total loss. Defense had some flashes of what it can be. The bright spot was the Sox taking a big game to stay up in the wild card. What a huge block by Tek to save the lead. Those god damn Yankees better cool the F off though. Although we all know who C.C. Sabathia turns into when the money's on the line...

Tommy's Back!

There hasn't been much to be joyous about around New England in the past few weeks. It has either been below zero temperatures or the heaven's have been dumping snow on us by the pounds. The economy is at it's lowest points since The Great Depression. To top it all off the Superbowl will feature the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals. Just when you thought it couldn't get any better along come this NEWS. That's right Tommy's going to be back for the 2009 opener. If you're a Pats fan this news is huge. All the hub bub about the knee not being right. The fact that he couldn't make it back. Well if we have learned one thing about Brady it is you never doubt him. You hear that you damn Red-headed Stepchild?! Finally the earth has been returned to its access. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see how Brady comes back from this one. We could be talking 100 TD's.

I've come to the conclusion this year will be beneficial for the organization as a whole. We will finally get to see Belichick work his magic without his golden boy. If the Pats go 9-7, 10-6, or hopefully better (19-0) then the Belichick haters will have to acknowledge he is the best coach in NFL history. Plus the season will be a roller coaster nail bitter again like the old days.

Speaking of the old days think number 11 will be brought in? I don't think he's blogging anymore maybe he's hitting the weights ready for a Rocky Esq. comeback. I'm hoping to hell so! Honestly Cassel should be better than any other bum they could pick-up at this point. Besides I'd rather have him knowing and running this offense over Vince Young, Tavarius Jackson, David Garrad, Chad Pennington, J.T. O'Sullivan, Kyle Ortnon or any other clueless free agent. Face it without Brady the NFL is gonna have a pretty average year at best. Can you say "Parity"? Don't even try to tell me to worry about San Diago "A Whales Vagina" maybe a little worried about Steeltown, but that's about it. Bottom lin the Pats can hang with evey other team.

What the F***! Think Positive

At about 1:15 p.m. yesterday the Pats season took the blow of all blows. The franchise went down with what is speculated to be a torn ACL. I like everyone else knew this was the absolute worst case scenario going into game one of the season. With the back up play of Cassel the Pats surely would take a huge hit, Right? Well all is not lost this team can win without Tommy, but will they win another Lombardi? Who knows? Will they win the AFC East? Tough to tell. Are the Pats still good enough to make a run? Yes! Losing Brady is devastating, but this team has enough play makers and Vets to make it to the playoffs at the very least. Fighting back thoughts of bridge jumping and looking at the positives you can see this benefits the team concept of the old school Patriots mentality.

Note to the kids: This is not how you tackle a franchise QB and face of the NFL.

Over the past 6 years the Pats have lived and died by #12. They have been a favorite to win the Superbowl the last going into the last two seasons. The point is Evey Pats fan knows Belichick teams play better as underdogs or at the least doubted. It may sound crazy, but I see the Pats feeling slighted that people will now downgrade their chances to win. Who would say the Pats can win the championship now? The Patriot doubters and haters will now come out full force and point their F'ing fingers, but the Pats won't quit. There is still a job to do and every guy in that locker room will tell you that. There won't be anyone feeling sorry for them and they know it. Does losing their franchise QB hurt their chances? Yes, but do they feel like they can't win big games when it is all on the line, NO. It will be an interesting season if Tommy doesn't take another snap. You will see Belichick bring out the Defenses best this year and see the offense find a new identity. Like it or not Cassel can be productive if he doesn't try to do too much. He's not in there to prove he's better than Brady he is in there to win games. Plus he still has weapons in Moss, Welker, and the four headed running attack of Maroney, Morris, Jordan, and Faulk. If Moss keeps his head up and stays motivated things on offense will be above average, not the record breaking stuff we remember from last year or hoped for this year. This year will be about the defense and I know I'm excited to see what they can do. I really liked what they showed against the Chiefs, yes I know it's the Chiefs, yesterday and they can build on that last big stand.

Is the Pats season over? No Did they loose a year of Brady? Probably Will the fans suffer? Possibly, but I'll assure you this season will be exciting to watch like the 2002 team was. At least I hope it is.
